Miniaturist Bridge News – February 8, 2020

Ah, sweet February.

The month of love, snow moons, whispers of warmth on those finally-sunny days, and most importantly….one step closer to Chicago International, IGMA Guild School, and many other Spring/Summer miniature events!

There’s so much to cover with this post – I’d better get started!

Meet the Miniaturist

I can’t say enough good things about the subject of our Meet the Miniaturist spotlight for February – Ara Bentley. She is combination artisan and teacher, and is the person behind Bentley House Minis, the popular YouTube channel. Whatever you do, don’t miss this one!

Inspiration at 1/4″ Scale

You’ll be amazed and inspired by the subject of our Community Showcase this month – I know I was!

Come meet Rob Crouch, creator of this incredible 1/4″ scale Beech Tree Manor. The detail, design, and execution are beyond words. In fact, after I did this feature, I went out and bought a 1/4″ scale kit to try myself – it is THAT inspiring!

Our Event spotlight this month is on the Tom Bishop Chicago International show, scheduled April 17-19 this year in Chicago, Illinois. If you can swing it, this is one show that you won’t want to miss. The show features dealers from 22 countries and 32 states and is filled corner to corner with some of the most amazing miniatures that I’ve seen. I’ll see you there!

We added a few really inspiring and amazing videos this month that you’ll definitely want to see. Don’t miss the Video Links page for new videos featuring Chris Toledo, Joshua Smith, and Raphael Truffi Bortholuzzi of Grandmondo Miniatures.

Speaking of Raphael Truffi Bortholuzzi, we are proud to feature him and the video documenting his jaw-dropping creation, Casa Amarela Miniature as our Spotlight. Read more and see the video on our Video Spotlight page!

This month we featured one of my favorite, fun, and inspirational online groups ever – the Miniatures Made by Cricuters group on Facebook.

Stop by our Group Spotlight to read more about this group and see some pretty incredible miniatures made by the group members.

What Else is New?

Glad you asked! We have a number of improvement projects underway…..

First, we redesigned our Kids page to be more like our other pages. Here you’ll find easy categories that you can click to see link to projects, spotlights, and publications. Got a kid in your life? Share your love of minis!

Next, we have begun to design a new feature on our site – Ask the Experts. This is a new page that will give you access to some of our industry’s best experts. Got a question you need answered? Let us know what categories you’d like to see! See more information.

We’d Love to Hear from You!

This is YOUR community site – so make sure your voice is heard! Use our Submit a Site or Contact Us forms to let us know of the events, museums, brick-and-mortar stores, videos, books, or other miniature-related items that you want to share!

And most importantly, thank you for visiting, using, and sharing Miniaturist Bridge with your mini friends and communities. It is our hope that we can create a truly useful and inspirational resource that ultimately helps grow and foster sharing within our community.

Sending BIG hugs from my TINY corner of the world,
